IRS Requirements: W-9 & 1099-MISC

    Do I need a W-9 to pay my personal property taxes?
    Individual taxpayers should not be requesting a W-9, only businesses. The IRS requires all businesses to have a current W-9 on file prior to making any payments including property taxes. Businesses only should e-mail the W-9 request to Treasurer@ttc.ocgov.com with a fax number.
    How do I submit a request to receive a signed W-9?
    The request for a W-9 from the County of Orange can be e-mailed to: treasurer@ttc.ocgov.com.
    How long will it take to get a signed W-9 returned to me?
    Requests are usually completed within a few days.
    How will I receive the signed W-9 back from the Treasurer?
    Please provide a fax number and we will fax the signed request to the fax number you provide. Please note, we will not e-mail the signed form for security reasons, however, upon special request we may mail it.
    What information needs to be provided to receive a W-9?
    Please provide us with your name and contact information as well as the company’s name, address and fax number.

    Do I need to send a 1099-MISC to the County of Orange?
    The County of Orange is tax-exempt, therefore, does not need to receive a 1099-MISC form from your company.
